‘Paws Of Fury’ Falls Flat As ‘Minions’ Flies Past Major Box Office Milestone

Paramount’s kung-fu comedy whiffed at the box office, while Minions: The Rise of Gru has now grossed more than $500 million worldwide.

The Minions movies are shifting older as teen fans are returning to the franchise they grew up with.

With a $128 million launch, Minions signals the return of big box office animated features.

The Minions have done what Pixar couldn’t: proven that audiences still want theatrical animation.

Lightyear was supposed to be the film that marked Pixar’s triumphant return to the bigscreen. But its weak box office tells a different story.

But don’t expect more 2d animation releases from Disney anytime soon.

The Bad Guys and Sonic topped the U.S. box office over the weekend, while Sing 2 crossed a major global milestone.

The previous record holder was the first Sonic film.

The Seong-Hu Park-directed film is also the highest-grossing U.S. theatrical animation release of 2022 to date.

Crunchyroll will release the movie in North American theaters on March 18.

In six days, “Boonie Bears” grossed seven times what “Encanto” managed in a month.

In other news: “Sing 2” is holding up well and “Encanto” has bombed in China.

It’s the first time since “Frozen 2” that an animated film has cracked $100M domestically.

The anime feature also had the second-biggest opening weekend in Japanese history, behind only “Demon Slayer.”

If any animated film can crack $100 million at the domestic box office this year, it’s “Encanto.”

Meanwhile, “The Addams Family 2” has become the year’s second-highest-grossing animated film domestically.
