‘Incredibles 2’ Fastest Animated Film To $200 Million

On Monday, Disney-Pixar’s Incredibles 2 continued its scorching run at the U.S box office, picking up $23.6 million, the best-ever non-holiday Monday gross for an animated feature.

That tally is also the 7th-highest non-holiday Monday gross among all films. The previous animation record holder was Illumination’s Sing, which grossed $19.6 million on Monday, December 26, 2016.

It should be noted that Incredibles 2 even surpassed the top holiday Monday animation gross, a record that had belonged to Dreamworks Animation’s Shrek 2, which had picked up $23.4 million on May 31, 2004, although adjusted for inflation, Shrek 2 easily comes out on top.

After just four days at the box office, Brad Bird’s Incredibles sequel has grossed $206.3 million at the U.S./Canada box office. It’s the fastest that an animated film has reached $200 million in domestic receipts. Previously, the fastest animated film to $200m had been Disney-Pixar’s Finding Dory, which reached that mark in 2016 after seven days.
