Here’s a first look at the cover of The Art of Sanjay’s Super Team, the art-of book that will accompany the new Pixar short, Sanjay’s Super Team, directed by veteran studio animator Sanjay Patel.

While the short will be released theatrically this November in front of The Good Dinosaur, the Chronicle Books supplement will follow a few weeks later on December 1st.

Devoting an entire tome to an animated short may seem like an unusual proposition — I personally wrote The Art of Pixar Short Films which covered 13 shorts within its pages — but it makes sense when you realize that Sanjay is a designer and illustrator, in addition to being an animator. Patel has written and illustrated a number of other books including The Little Book of Hindu Deities, Ramayana—Divine Loophole, and Ganesha’s Sweet Tooth, the latter two of which were published by Chronicle, too. The book also makes sense if you’ve seen the short, which is bursting with dynamic color and design choices throughout its seven-minute run time.

The 128-page book will include a foreword by John Lasseter and a preface by Chris Sasaki, who was the short’s production designer. You can pre-order it on Amazon for $24.95.
