Quirino Awards 2019: Full List Of Nominees
The Ibero-American Animation Quirino Awards have revealed nominees for its second edition, set to be held April 6 in the Spanish city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on the island of Tenerife (part of the Canary Islands).
A total of 37 works from eight Ibero-American countries have been nominated. The projects were chosen from 244 submissions. The selection committee was made up of Agnieszka Kowalewska-Skowron (Poland), Loic Portier (France), Barry O’Donoghue (Ireland) Paco Rodriguez (Spain), and Zulay Rodriguez (Spain).
The countries with the most nominations are Spain (21 nominations), Brazil (13), and Argentina (8). Leading the way in terms of nominations are three Spanish projects (pictured at top), with three nominations apiece: the short films La Noria by Carlos Baena and Mum’s the Word by Khris Cembe, and the commissioned piece “Lorenzo Live 2018 Intro” directed by Manuele Fior at Silly Walks Studio.
The nominated works will now be evaluated by an international jury, which will select three finalists in each category. Those finalists will be announced in Madrid, Spain on February 19.
