Top Story: ‘The Wild Robot’ And ‘Arcane’ Lead 52nd Annie Award Nominations

The Ibero-American Animation Quirino Awards have revealed the nominees for their inaugural edition.

Fifty-four projects were nominated in nine categories. Ten Ibero-American countries are represented in the nominee lists: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, and Uruguay, with Spain and Mexico leading the nominations with 21 and 12 nods respectively. The selections were made by a European group of industry professionals: Loïc Portier (France), Barry O’Donoghue (Ireland), Agnieszka Kowalewska-Skowron (Poland), Paco Rodríguez (Spain), and Zulay Rodríguez (Spain).

The nominated works will now be evaluated by an international jury, which will select three finalists in each category. The list of finalists will be published next month, and the winner in each category will be announced on April 7 at an awards ceremony in the Spanish city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on the island of Tenerife (part of the Canary Islands).
