Top Story: Despite A Large Number Of Detractors, Animation Guild Members Ratify New Contract

The Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma unveiled the nominations for the 43rd César Awards this morning. The awards are the equivalent of the Oscars for French cinema.

The Césars have two categories for animation, honoring features and shorts. The winners of the award will be announced at a ceremony in Paris on March 2, 2018.

The nominees for feature animation are:

Le Grand Méchant Renard Et Autres Contes (The Big Bad Fox & Other Tales) directed by Benjamin Renner and Patrick Imbert

Sahara directed by Pierre Coré

Zombillénium directed by Arthur De Pins and Alexis Ducord

Of these films, only The Big Bad Fox & Other Tales was eligible for the Oscars, and it did not receive a nomination.

In the shorts category, four films received nominations:

Le Future Sera Chauve directed by Paul Cabon

I Want Pluto To Be A Planet Again directed by Marie Amachoukeli and Vladimir Mavounia-Kouka

Le Jardin De Minuit directed by Benoît Chieux

Pépé Le Morse directed by Lucrèce Andreae
