BAFTA Nominations Announced: Animated Feature, Short, and VFX Nominees
Nominations for the 69th annual BAFTA Film Awards, the British equivalent of the Academy Awards, were announced today. Unlike the Oscars, the BAFTAs only nominate three films in the feature animation category. This year’s picks: Inside Out, Minions, and Shaun the Sheep Movie.
Inside Out’s screenplay by Josh Cooley, Pete Docter, and Meg LeFauve was nominated in the original screenplay category, alongside Bridge of Spies, Ex Machina, The Hateful Eight, and Spotlight.
In the short film category, which only recognizes British-produced films, Prologue, by animation legend Richard Williams, goes up against two stop motion films produced at the National Film and Television School: Nina Gantz’s Edmond and Simon Cartwright’s Manoman.
