Animation Guild To Hold Solidarity Rally In Burbank This Sunday
The Animation Guild (TAG), IATSE Local 839, will hold a rally in Burbank this Sunday, as it continues negotiations for a new contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Contract talks began last November, but the two sides have thus far been unable to reach an agreement.
TAG represents over 6,000 new, active, or reinstated members working for union studios in Los Angeles. These animation workers represented by the Guild have been working without a union contract since last July, when the previous three-year contract expired.
“After an unprecedented 12 days of negotiations, The Animation Guild Negotiations Committee continues to work hard to represent the best interests of all TAG members,” the guild said in a statement. “TAG members, family and friends, and community allies are invited to attend the rally and show support for a fair deal.”
The event will begin on Sunday, March 20, at 11am with car painting, followed by a rally from 2-3:30pm with speeches from the negotiations team, TAG leadership, and labor/community allies.
The rally will happen at IATSE LOCAL 80 (2520 W Olive Ave). Those who wish to register online can do so here.
