What is the most valuable piece of artistic advice you have ever received, and from who?
“A professor taught me not to worry about creating art for others because people tend to respond more to personal work rather than work designed to be accessible. I think that people need to find a kernel of personal truth in order to stay interested in a piece beyond pure aesthetics. When I feel a piece of mine is starting to become too inspired, I use this as a justifiable excuse to be weird and surprise people.”
