WHAT IS THE MOST VALUABLE PIECE OF ARTISTIC ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED, AND FROM WHO?
“I was very VERY lucky to have been mentored by Maurice Noble right out of film school. The first time I showed him my work he started laughing like I had told him a dirty joke. He said, ‘Jorge, when it comes to color, you are giving it away for free like a cheap floozy! Color is emotion. You need to have the audience earn it. Tease them as long as you can and save the good stuff for the climax.’ It took me years to understand what he meant. Hopefully I’ll figure it out before I die.”
