First Look at Scarlett Johansson in ‘Ghost in the Shell: Whitewash Edition’
Paramount revealed a first-look today at Scarlett Johansson in the live-action adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s iconic manga Ghost in the Shell.
Directed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White And The Huntsman) and written by Jonathan Herman (Straight Outta Compton), Ghost in the Shell will be released in the U.S. on March 31, 2017.
The fan reaction online has been almost unanimously negative since Johannson was announced in the film’s lead role. Film fans on Twitter have been sharing their own ideas about who should’ve been cast in the film’s lead, and none of them are Hollywood actresses:
Scarlett is phenomenal, but @rinko_kikuchi would have seriously been a better fit for the role. Ghost in the Shell. pic.twitter.com/XgLAPzNyFY

I'm guess neither Rila Fukushima nor Tao Okamoto were available for Ghost in the Shell? pic.twitter.com/WAx2uK4wQt
