Sony-owned anime streamer/distributor Crunchyroll is launching a 24/7 anime channel to find new audiences for the art form.

The new Crunchyroll channel will be available on several platforms in the coming weeks, including LG Channels (October 11), The Roku Channel (October 11), Vizio WatchFree+ (October 11), and Amazon’s Freevee (October 17)

Launch titles on the new channel include catalog series such as Horimiya, Ranking of Kings, Moriarty the Patriot, Psycho-Pass, Arifureta, Sugar Apple Fairytale, To Your Eternity, and Code Geass. In the future, more promotional, genre, and themed programming blocks will be scheduled to broaden the channel’s offerings. Crunchyroll channel series will air with English-language dubs.

According to Crunchyroll, its new and premium titles will remain on the company’s existing SVOD and AVOD platforms.

In a release, Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini said:

The Crunchyroll channel is a gateway to the world of anime where we will guide viewers to discover new worlds, new stories and new characters. And thanks to our distribution partners at launch, millions of fans have easy access to the medium that is taking the world by storm.

Cartoon Brew’s Take: This seems like a homerun for Crunchyroll and the anime art form. Given that the Crunchyroll channel will be available on several free platforms, millions of potential fans will have a much more extensive library of anime titles to introduce them to the medium.
