Copeland Brothers To Develop Feature Projects At Laika
Laika has added two new people to its creative roster: filmmakers Chris and Justin Copeland, known collectively as The Copeland Brothers.
They have joined the Portland area stop-motion studio behind Coraline and Kubo and the Two Strings to develop animated feature projects, the company said today.
Here is what we know about the new deal:
- Individually, the Copelands have worked on a variety of projects, with Chris directing on the Dreamworks Animation series Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts and Justin directing the DC animated films Wonder Woman: Bloodlines and Batman: Hush. Together they worked inside the DC Universe as storyboard artists on a variety of projects inlcuding Batman: The Killing Joke, Batman: Soul of the Dragon, Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, and The Death and Return of Superman, as well as Marvel’s animated Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers Assemble series.
- The Copelands were most recently developing features and tv projects for Dreamworks. They have also wrapped writing and directing a soon-to-be-released animated short.
- The Copeland Brothers are represented by Jason Burns and Strawn Dixon at UTA, and manager Jairo Alvarado at Redefine Entertainment.
