Top Story: Despite A Large Number Of Detractors, Animation Guild Members Ratify New Contract

Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank has had a very active development and digital shorts program over the last couple years, but most of what they’ve made has been unavailable to the public – until this week.

The studio quietly launched a Facebook page a few days ago where they’re sharing some recent productions. So far they’ve released four never-before-seen shorts on the page:

  • My Friend Pancake created by Rikke Asbjoern
  • Slimelab created by Nick Arciaga
  • Dog & Squirrel created by Andrea Gerstmann
  • Best Baddies created by Max Wittert

Nick also posted a sizzle reel (below) that hints at plenty of other shorts. It’s not clear how much they plan to drop onto the Facebook platform, but here’s hoping there’s more to come. Releasing content online is among the most efficient ways for entertainment conglomerates to gauge public reaction and learn what viewers actually like, not to mention cutting through the bureaucracy that often prevents the best ideas from rising to the top.
