Five Online Animated Series Nominated for Streamy Awards
Created in 2009 by the founders of online video news site Tubefilter and the now-defunct Tilzy.tv, the Streamy Awards recognize excellence in Internet video. The award, in its fifth year, is now a multi-platform crossover occupying the Hollywood Palladium and staged in concert with traditional media stalwarts Dick Clark Productions and VH1, which will broadcast this year’s ceremony on television for the first time ever.
Animation is among 42 categories at this year’s Streamys, whose nominees and winners are determined by the Streamys Blue Ribbon Panel, a judging body comprised of creators, executives, and other people in the online video industry.
Past winners of Streamy Awards for animation are RWBY (2014), Electric City (2013), How It Should Have Ended (2010), and The Meth Minute 39 (2009).
The nominee slate in the animated series category includes series from both established producers — Frederator Studios, PBS — as well as younger online-era producers such as Rooster Teeth and Explosm. Here’s all the animation noms:
Bee and Puppycat (Frederator Studios)
Blank on Blank (PBS)
Cyanide & Happiness (Explosm)
RWBY (Rooster Teeth)
Swoozie (Swoozie)
See the list of nominees in all categories at Streamys.org. The awards will be presented on September 17.
